CALIFORNIA
Passengers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) can now access the web for free using Internet kiosks located in the passenger
terminals as part of a year-long pilot programme with Neptune Networks of Los Angeles.  Twelve 'NetFree 2000' kiosks are already in place at passenger boarding gates - eight near Gate 32 in Terminal 3 and four on the Mezzanine Level of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT).
 

UK LONDON
Destinations 2001 the UK’s biggest holiday and travel show opens at the Grand Hall Olympia on 1st  February and runs till 4th February.

AVIATION

UNITED AIRLINES  is to introduce 'Economy Plus' seating on transatlantic
routes following successful domestic trials offers a 36 inch seat pitch,
an increase of five inches.  The carrier has introduced an enhanced
economy cabin in the US in 1999, aiming at full fare passengers and
loyalty card holders.  Most of the aircraft flying transatlantic routes

CONCORDE:  An Air France Concorde is expected to begin trials in the
South of France later this week following modifications to the wing fuel
tanks.  It is confidently mooted  by BA that Concorde will again be
flying from Heathrow to New York daily in the spring and, once again,
twice daily at the end of the summer holiday period.

LONDON-GATWICK  has opened a £13 million passenger lounge extension on the North Terminal's Pier 4.  BAA has also announced plans
for a £79million Pier 6, handling up to 12 flights at one time.  This will be linked to the North Terminal by a bridge which will take passengers over an aircraft taxiway. At the moment 30% of North Terminal passengers are bussed.

"BUZZ"  The London-Stansted based KLM subsidiary will fly to La Rochelle and Poitiers in France and Mercia, La Manga and Gerona in Spain.  Also back into the schedule are the summer only routes to Montpellier (France) and
Jerez (Spain). 

CANADA:
The world's largest winter festival opens in Quebec on January 26th. The Kellogg Winter Carnaval runs for 17 days. Events include a Mardi Gras style parade, canoe races on the frozen St Lawrence, an Ice Palace and an international snow sculpture event. 

FLORIDA:       
The world's tallest sand sculpture  appears on  Florida’s Beach as the St.Petersburg/Clearwater area unveils its salute to the Super Bowl: a football-field-sized sand sculpture featuring helmets of all the NFL teams. Officials from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on-hand to authenticate bid..  The sculpture will be available for viewing daily with a sunset laser show on beautiful Sand Key in Clearwater Beach each evening from January 25 through Super Bowl Sunday, Jan. 28.
