Concorde is set to take to the skies again. 
British Airways have scheduled passenger services to resume between London Heathrow and New York on the 9th of November. 
This will be preceded by a press and promotional flight on 7th November.




Royal Olympic Cruises will replace calls at Egyptian ports,
featured within the Olympia Voyager's weekly 'Grand Three
Continents' cruise, with visits to Venice and Corfu.


First Choice Holidays, the smallest of the four big operators, is to axe 1,100 jobs, 15 per cent of its winter season holidays, 20 per cent of its capacity for next summer and hand back 6 of its Air 2000 aircraft reducing its fleet to 26 next summer. While the company insists that it is in good shape expect other operators to follow suit.

In a determined effort to get Americans flying again, Delta, the third largest carrier in the USA has kicked off a global fare sale. Northwest, United and American have already followed suit. The sale came as Northwest admitted that the number of passengers flying on its planes dropped nearly 34 percent in September.
   Northwest, is offering roundtrips between New York and Los Angeles for 251 and Detroit-Dallas for 200, Atlanta-Zurich for 398.

British Airways is offering some excellent deals at Ebookers.com on sale through 14th October with travel to be completed by 30th Nov 2001. Phoenix - £244, Los Angeles - £255, San Francisco - £255, Miami - £235, Atlanta - £227. Taxes are included.he American Society of Travel Agents has decided to hold next month's World Congress in New York, rather than Seville as originally planned

The organisers of World Travel Market (WTM) in London say there are no
plans to cancel the event which is due to take place from
November 12-15. Instead they plan to show the worldwide public
that the travel and tourism industry continues to do 'business
as usual'.

To promote travel to New York Delta announced key initiatives:
 "Delta Loves NYC," a nationwide giveaway designed to bring
10,000 visitors to New York City during the next six months.  In addition to
complimentary airline tickets to New York City, select travel packages
also will include accommodations provided by Crowne Plaza and
Inter-Continental hotels in New York City and access to some of the best
New York City tourist destinations, such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim
Museum. Delta will give away 1,000 of the 10,000 complimentary tickets
in Boston and Washington, D.C., for travel to New York City on the Delta
Shuttle.
* Sperial mileage awards including donations for relief efforts.  To assist with relief efforts,Delta has donated 2 million miles each to the American Red Cross, Care,United Way and United Way International, for a total of 8 million miles. To date, SkyMiles members also have donated an additional 16 million  miles, which translates into almost 1,000 tickets to help with relief
efforts.

 

 


COCKPIT CAMERAS  could help to establish the cause of airborne
incidents, according to Ken Smart, chief inspector, Air Accident
Investigations Board.  Used in conjunction with the so called, "Black
Box" data equipment, they would help analyse fatal accidents.  However,
the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) said that it did not
object to cameras being trained on instruments but would strongly resist
any attempt to film pilots, citing that it was offensive and an invasion
of privacy.  


SINGAPORE AIRLINES  is to introduce what they claim is the
longest business class bed in the sky, initially on the London-Singapore
route.  Fully extended, the seats are 6ft 6ins long and 2ft 3ins wide.
Amongst many other improvements, audio-video on demand (the
Matsushita Avionics MAS3000 with KrisWorld system will be installed in

 Airline passengers will soon be able to pass through passport
controls in the blink of an eye, according to EyeTicket, a McLean,
Virginia company.  The technology is already in trials in the US and
later this year will be sampled by a selection of British Airways and
Virgin Atlantic passengers at Heathrow.  The  biometric check system
looks into the human iris, no two being the same.  The procedure takes
just two seconds, considerably speeding up the current immigration
checks.



Cathay Pacific is to stock TeleAdapt's 'Laptop Connection Pack'
on inflight duty free sales trolley. The pack enables travellers
to connect their laptops to Internet and e-mail services in over
150 different countries


EASYJET  introduced its new service between London Gatwick and Nice with fares starting at just £72.50 return (including tax).
The afternoon flight originates in Nice.  The airline already has a
twice daily service between Gatwick and Geneva, and a daily service
between Gatwick and Amsterdam.  The airline now operates 32 routes with
