WHAT'S NEW.....IN
FLORENCE
©
The
Frescobaldis, arguably Tuscany’s most famous wine family, has taken
a step in vertical integration with the opening of a beautiful new
wine bar in the heart of Florence’s historic centre.
It’s small (read, intimate), with four different rooms
accommodating a total of 80 people.
One room (Frescobaldino) is designed to attract a younger crowd to the
bar for a quick glass of wine and tapas
(a word that has transcended its Spanish origin and now seems to be
the rage as it is adapted and adopted by every cuisine).
Other rooms are more elegant and contemplate a full meal,
accompanied by the perfect wines.

“The
opening of the Frescobaldi Wine Bar is the response to a strategic
choice the company has made,”
says Giovanni Geddes, Managing Director of the Group,
“ and reconfirms our commitment to the importance given to the
pairing of great wine and food.”

This
is the second Frescobaldi wine bar – I saw the first recently early
one Monday morning heading for a plane at Rome’s Fiumicino airport.
It’s a jewel of a location, with a lovely bar opening on one side
and a healthy inventory of wines for the last minute shopper.
Had my carry-on bag not been stuffed full of cameras and far
too many last minute items, I would have picked up a bottle of their
outstanding Montesodi or even the little Pomino Bianco (the latter
better suited the heat of summer).
