Tall Sails and Plenty of Ales:
Gourmet tours. Hoisting the sails. A brew historian. Sound like
an unlikely combination? Or, quite possibly, an intriguing amalgamation?
Then come aboard the Maple Leaf – a classic (and majestic)
tall ship – for a five-day gourmet sailing tour of the province’s
craft breweries and smattering of picturesque Gulf Islands. Certain
to prove the ideal opportunity to lounge and learn thanks to the
expertise of BC’s foremost brew historian, Greg Evans –
this tour will set its sails to the wind March 22 – 27, 2006.
This unique twist on the traditional tasting tour will present special
samplings at local breweries en route (not open to the general public),
Evans, who also lends his expertise to the Maritime Museum of BC
(where he is Executive Director), will prove insightful as he discusses
brew types, pairings of beverages with tasty treats, the “unbuttoned”
social history of drinking on Vancouver Island, and more. Send up
the sails…and pour the pints. http://www.mapleleafadventures.com
