WHERE TO "GET YOUR KIT OFF"

IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

Want to cast off your cares along with your clothes and escape from the chill of a Northern winter? If so, then The Canary Islands could be the ideal place for you. - The weather is great year-round but December to February are the islands' busiest months. This means of course, more people and higher prices.

The best value on airfares is offered from November to mid-December and even better, March to May ( Easter excepted).

Being winter, the temperature is also slightly cooler but still warm enough for you to meet Santa in your skin.

La Palma and La Gomera Islands
Beginning with the smaller of the islands, Isla de La Palma is a quiet place with
no mass tourism. You will find a small " black sand" nudist beach to the south of Puerto Naos. When you are not soaking up the sun the island is an ideal place for walking. A real "get away from it all" location. www.islalapalma.com

La Gomera. In Valle Gran Rey there are two beaches, the most popular is
Playa del Ingles which is a black sand beach. The other requires some climbing and is located beyond the harbour and below the huge cliffs past the Argayal centre.

Tenerife

There is also black sand in the north of Tenerife if you want to lay out
on the golden stuff choose the south of the island .

Playa de las Americas is perhaps the best resort to choose if you want to take advantage of nudist beaches .

The beach of Playa de la Tejita, near El Medano, is about 20 KM north of Playa de las Americas. It is the main one and you can stretch out peak times in the company of 250-300 naked people from all over Europe. It is really is a big public beach, with nude bathing accepted at the west end.

The other beach, and most accessible one, is at Los Christianos.
Go past the Hotel Gran Arona toward the large hill north of town.
Follow the beach past a narrow cove until you get on the rocky beach.
Other nude beaches are can be found at: Playa de los Patos by La Orotava, Los Christianos, and Playa de las Gaviotas near Santa Cruz,

Lanzarote

Lanzarote is one of the most popular islands with plane loads of tourists being decanted into the resort of Puerto del Carmen.

Naturists tend to head down to the south of the island to Papagayo.
A series of bays and coves accessed over a bumpy track close to the resort of Playa Blanca. (Which is expanding)

The water is beautifully clear and it is a lovely place to lay and watch yachts sailing by. Get there early enough and yoiu might manage to find a small cave or a rocky nest.

As the day wears on it gets warm so be sure to bring a a parasol and plenty to drink.

Fuerteventura

With the coast of Africa just under sixty miles away Fuerteventura appears at first sight to be a huge long barren frazzled rock but it is blessed with mile after mile of sandy beaches.
. Corralejo is the main 'tourist resort 'and just south of it you find playa de Corralejo an immense wide beach that runs south for over 8 km. A large area of sand dunes providing a perfect back drop. Nearest hotel is 'Olivia Beach.'

To the south nudists shelter from either the sea breeze or hot sun in nests of stone bolders or

walk naked along the tideline. It is also a popular place for flying kites.

Fuerteventura features several lovely beaches, the best being along the east coast from Morro del Jable. Nude beaches include: Sotavento, Corralejo, and Morro del Jable.

(Sotavento is a very long beach and a favourite for naturists who enjoy the clean, warm, and beautifully green Atlantic.)

Gran Canaria

A large and popular naturist area lies between
Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas.

Playa del Inglés is a bustling and busy tourist resort with many hotels.

It is possible to walk (or paddle) around the coast to the nudist
beach at Maspalomas. (Beach cafes can sustain you with sandwiches and beer,if neccessary.)

There are also life guards on duty and flags to denote just how safe the swimming conditions are.

You can either take the bus back or walk over the massive sand dunes which are popular naturists.

Buses also link regularly with other points along the south coast of the island and up to Las Palmas.

Other nudist possibilities are at the coves west of the playa at Mogan or or rugged seclusion at Ttritania
